Can I drink alcohol on the raw food diet?

Healthy with Fruits and Vegetables Recipes.Sharing all things related to health, Benefit of fruits, herbs and vegetables. Traditional and Modern Recipes included Vegetarian Recipe, how to manufacture and maintain health naturally.Health is more valuable than treasures

Q Can I drink alcohol on the raw food diet? Or would that be counterproductive?

A Yes, you can, but in my opinion that would be very foolish. The way alcohol works on the body is by blocking the availability of oxygen and causing the death of brain cells. Alcohol is used in laboratories to preserve dead organic matter like body parts. If you’re into health enough to try the raw food diet why on earth would you want to poison your body with alcohol? Alcohol is a toxin and poison that leads to premature aging, impotence, and cancer with long term use.

Also of note is that if you’ve already started on the raw diet and have done significant cleansing your body may react very negatively to even a small dose of alcohol.

Believe me, when you become healthy through the raw diet you won’t even miss having a drink, especially when you think about the havoc it wreaks on your body.

Best Fruit Smoothie

This Energizing Fruit Smoothie is absolutely one of my all time favorites, and so simple to make. It makes a great second meal or a quick pick me up any time. Perhaps you have a lot to do and don’t want to be weighted down by a heavy meal. You need something quick that will carry you over for a few hours. Well, my friends this energizing smoothie is it!

1 basket of figs
blend in fresh squeezed orange juice to desired consistency

Pull the stems off the tops of the figs and blend with fresh squeezed orange juice. You could blend in whole oranges instead of juice to get the full nutritional value of the oranges. Usually I blend in leafy greens and or a super green powder like spirulina, chlorella, or ormus greens. This energizing smoothie is loaded with calcium and enough calories to carry you for hours.

Green Wonder (with flaxseed)

I juice the oranges and the lemon and add all the ingredients on the blender and blend away. It is important to choose nice and sweet apples and oranges to counter balance the bitter lemon taste.

I use the falxseed just to add some more fiber to the mix, you can't really taste it... It's a great way to start the day!

3 oranges

1 lemon

2 small apples

1 carrot

1 slice of fresh ginger

1 tablespoon flaxseed

1 celery stick

and a handful of spinach.

Spring Salad with Mango

Healthy with Fruits and Vegetables Recipes.Sharing all things related to health, Benefit of fruits, herbs and vegetables. Traditional and Modern Recipes included Vegetarian Recipe, how to manufacture and maintain health naturally.Health is more valuable than treasures

This salad is so yummy and juicy…and bursting with flavor. If you make this once it will become one of your top favorites I’m sure. It’s easy to make and like most of my dishes very easy to clean up too. I use spoon to pull small pieces of fruit out of the avo and mango halves. Cut the rest of the mango flesh off the seed with a little paring knife.

Mix thoroughly so the mango, tomatoes and avocado coat and make a nice dressing.

1 head of romaine (sliced thinly like cabbage for slaw)

4 to 5 tomatoes diced

2 cups sunflower sprouts

4 to 5 Persian cucumbers cut into short chunks

1 mango

1 avocado

1” chunk of ginger diced

3 sheets of nori cut into thin short strips

Substitute as you need to for ingredients you have on hand.

Cancer treatment

Q Hi I’m going through chemotherapy at the moment for breast cancer….Any recommendations for some types of juices which will be of great help please?

A Chemotherapy strips the body of nutrition so it’s extremely important to get loads of good nutrients in to replace those that are lost. A wide variety of juices may be best in insuring that you will be taking in a wide variety of nutrients. Juices containing lots of greens and wheat grass, which is very rich in nutrients, would be good choices in my opinion.

I would look through the juicing recipes to see which ones appeal to. You can always modify them to suit your needs. I think after a while you’ll be able to tell which ones are the best for you.

Perhaps a quick prayer or blessing over each juice before drinking to infuse it with love and healing energy.

Best to you on your healing journey. Please let me know how you’re doing and if you have any other questions.

If you can drink this juice, you can drink anything. The lemon gives it a great after taste. If its too strong, cut back on the ginger. This will strengthen your immune and will give you serious energy.

1/2 bunch parsley

1/2 bunch kale

1/2 bunch cilantro

1/2 beet

1/2 english cucumber

1/2 ginger root

3 pieces of turmeric

1 whole lemon

Raw Appetizer Recipes

Healthy with Fruits and Vegetables Recipes.Sharing all things related to health, Benefit of fruits, herbs and vegetables. Traditional and Modern Recipes included Vegetarian Recipe, how to manufacture and maintain health naturally.Health is more valuable than treasures

Raw food appetizer recipes are a wonderful way to show friends and family just how tasty and fulfilling the raw diet can be. On the other hand you have to be careful, because like their cooked food counterparts, some raw appetizers can be very high in fat. As long as you pay attention to that and use them for what they are, appetizers, and not as a main course you’ll be fine.

An appetizer recipe shared with others and followed by a large salad can indeed be a very healthy meal. Just remember fresh is best. It’s OK to have a “special” or dehydrated appetizer dish now and again; however the raw diet is based on fresh raw foods with all their natural juiciness intact.

Other things to look out for are hidden additives that not only may not be raw, but can also be detrimental to your health as well. Let’s face it, there’s no use in trading in one poor diet for another. The substances I’m talking about are things like namo shoyu, nutritional yeast and agave nectar. Basically if it’s not from a whole plant food, it’s probably not a good idea to eat it. I think a little miso, although not raw, and a little sea salt are acceptable additives to raw appetizer recipes.  The reason I think miso is OK is because it’s alive with cultures and is a “living” food, just like cultured vegetables or sauerkraut. In the end it’s up to you to set your own healthy parameters as to what is acceptable and what is not.

Now that we’ve covered what to look out for with appetizer recipes, let’s look at some of the good things about them. Appetizers are a part of the meal that you can get really creative with, and produce some wonderful tasty recipes that you’ll be proud to share with others. They tend to be fairly calorically dense so they pair nicely with salads, and vegetable sticks. They are a great way to incorporate some healthy fats into your diet, while still enjoying lots of fresh produce.

Appetizers are a great way to sneak healthy herbs and spices into your raw diet, especially herbs and spices that you may not add to a regular raw dish. These flavors will go well in your raw appetizers, and give you a chance to enjoy the health benefits of a little rosemary, chive, turmeric, nori, or dulse, to name just a few.

And as I touched on above there is nothing like a great tasting raw recipe to get people thinking positively about the raw food diet. If you can share a tasty raw appetizer with someone they will be much more accepting of your raw diet regime, and may even consider including a few raw recipes in their own diet. This way you get the message out about how healthy and good the raw food diet can be, but you don’t have to beat anybody over the head or scare people off.

The recipes below can be tweaked by you to suit your own needs or simply used as a starting place for ideas for your own tasty recipes. Please share your own tasty recipes with the rest of us so we can spread the word and enjoy them too.

Do you have a colon cleanse recipe?

Healthy with Fruits and Vegetables Recipes.Sharing all things related to health, Benefit of fruits, herbs and vegetables. Traditional and Modern Recipes included Vegetarian Recipe, how to manufacture and maintain health naturally.Health is more valuable than treasures

Q Do you have a recipe for a good colon cleanse?

A A raw food diet in general is a good colon cleanser in part because of the high fiber content, but intermittent or daily juicing can also be very useful in cleaning up one’s bio terrain. To make the cleansing experience as pleasant as possible I would suggest eating a healthy vegan diet for at least one week before embarking on a short juice fast.

During the juice fast you’ll take in only fresh made juices and pure water, starting with water in the morning. Then about an hour later have your first juice. After another hour or so have another glass of water and proceed on this schedule until you evening when you’ll just stick to water. A two or three day juice fast is a good place to start and will give you an idea of what to expect if you choose to go longer at another time.

Doing an enema once a day might be helpful if you’re so inclined. Some people do two a day and say it really helps, but others feel that letting the body naturally rid itself of debris is better. I would say that if you become constipated then definitely do one.

On the Detox Diet Recipes there is a list some good vegetables for over all cleansing/detoxing along with a number of good cleansing recipes you can start with.

If you have a pre-existing health issue or feel you are very toxic you may want to go slow, and perhaps consult with your health care person to get their input.

Fig & Olive Spread

Healthy with Fruits and Vegetables Recipes.Sharing all things related to health, Benefit of fruits, herbs and vegetables. Traditional and Modern Recipes included Vegetarian Recipe, how to manufacture and maintain health naturally.Health is more valuable than treasures

This is a mixture of two of my favorite fruits, and as it turns out they are two of the most alkaline fruits there are. This is a common dish in the Mediterranean where figs and olives are plentiful. The traditional recipe uses olive oil, but I prefer to keep the fat content as low as possible. After all the olive are quite high in fat as it is. You can mix it up with your own particular spices and herbs or enjoy it as is.

This goes well on celery sticks or with other juicy vegetables.

You can use a food processor and pulse with "S" blade or use a blender to make this, or just finely dice the ingredients to make more of a chutney. Either way it's a winner.

1 cup raw dried figs

1 cup pitted raw olives

½ medium zucchini

1 teaspoon lemon zest

¼ teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Add a little water if needed

Fasting Juice

Healthy with Fruits and Vegetables Recipes.Sharing all things related to health, Benefit of fruits, herbs and vegetables. Traditional and Modern Recipes included Vegetarian Recipe, how to manufacture and maintain health naturally.Health is more valuable than treasures

This is an amazing juice. It satisfies on so many levels and is also a great detoxifier and sustainer. It’s a great juice for a juice feast because it has the calories to carry you, is loaded with nutrients, and is a great cleanser.

Usually I would not juice something that is already so juicy, but for a specific juice fast it’s a real winner.

¼ average sized watermelon with rind

2 large or 4 to 5 small cucumbers

For this recipe I used small Persian cucumbers because that’s what I had on hand.

Celery is a really nice substitute for the cucumber, and contains sodium and other important electrolytes if you feel you are in need. Otherwise enjoy as is.

Be sure to juice the rind as well so you get all that good chlorophyll. When you eat watermelon out of hand save the rinds to juice or throw into your smoothie the next morning so you don’t waste that great nutrition. You can read more on the benefits of chlorophyll on the Detox Diet Recipes page. Enjoy!
